17 Self-Care Sunday Ideas for Productivity and Relaxation
What is Self Care Sunday
Let’s talk about self care Sunday. After all, that’s what you came here for, right? Sunday seems to be the most popular day for self-care. Have you ever wondered why?
Here’s my take on it. You can look at Sundays in two ways:
- It’s a rest and relaxation day. So, it’s the perfect time to relax and recover from the previous week.
- It’s a productivity day. It’s the day to get prepared for everything you need to do in the upcoming week.
So you see, it’s not just about relaxation, it’s about productivity as well. I love Sundays, and I always make sure to schedule activities and outings on other days of the week. And if I’m being completely honest, I don’t leave my house on Sundays unless I absolutely have to.
Sundays are my days.
With that being said, let’s jump into some tips that’ll help you create your own Sunday self-care routine.
Tips For Creating Your Own Self Care Sunday Routine
Start with a Self Care Sunday Checklist
As you’re thinking about your self-care routine, think about the things you need most in your life right now.
Do you need relaxation? When was the last time you had your favorite meal? Have you had time to work on your passion project this week? What things do you need to do to feel prepared for the upcoming week?
Add all of these things to your self care checklist.
By planning ahead, you’re giving yourself ample time to incorporate the most important self-care activities into your routine
Split Up Your Self Care Activities
So I know we’re dedicating a whole day to self-care, but we don’t want to overwhelm ourselves by trying to do too much at one time. So there are some activities you’re going to want to focus on in the morning and others you’ll save for the evening.
Do What Works For You
Remember to do what works best for you. And only focus on self-care activities that you find beneficial. For example, I like to give myself pedicures. But if that isn’t your cup of tea don’t do it.
Now you know how to effectively create your own Sunday self-care routine. But if you need help on what kind of activities to incorporate into your routine, keep on reading!

Self Care Activities for Productivity
1. Wake Up Early
You can wake up early. Waking up early allows you to get more things done, especially when everyone else in the house is still asleep.
So wake up early, grab a cup of coffee (or hot green tea), and get ready to start your day.
2. Make Plans for the Week
Sunday is the perfect day to start planning for the week ahead. Make a schedule that you plan to follow. Don’t forget to add important tasks, meetings, and deadlines.
If you have trouble sticking to the days you planned out, I’ve got some great tips on how to plan your day and stick to it.
3. Make a Goals List
Make a list of goals you want to accomplish. Include both your short-term and long-term goals in order of importance.
4. Do a Meal Prep
Save time with meal prepping! Prep all your meals for the week. Even your desserts. This will free up so much time during the actual week, and you’ll be able to focus on other things.
5. Take a Break from Social Media
No social media today. Sign out of your accounts. Not only can social media take a toll on your self-esteem, but you can also waste a lot of time on there just aimlessly scrolling down your feed.
6. Declutter Your Favorite Room
Choose one room in your house – your favorite room- and declutter. Get rid of anything that no longer serves you. If the items are still in good shape, you can donate it to the nearest shelter.
7. Clean Up
After you declutter, move on to tidying up your entire house. Vacuum, make your bed, wipe down your counter, and wash those dishes in the sink that you didn’t feel like washing last night.
Cleaning up your house is going to make the rest of your self care Sunday run smoothly.
8. Reach Out to a Friend or Family Member
Call and chat with one of your loved ones. See how they’ve been. Maybe schedule a brunch or dinner so that the two of you can hang out.
9. Make a Yummy, Healthy Smoothie
You’ve been so productive, and now it’s time to treat yourself to a delicious smoothie. Make sure you include your favorite fruits and veggies.

Start by running a warm shower and lathering up with your favorite soap. Follow that up with an exfoliating body scrub. Use the scrub to get rid of dead skin and to prep your skin.
If you use shaving as your method of hair removal, you would do this after exfoliating. Finish up your shower and follow up with your favorite moisturizer and perfume.
12. Dig into Your Self Care Kit
Pull out your self care kit and indulge in all your favorite self care items like treats, tea, and your favorite games
